Pair it with water-efficient fixtures (read high start/WELLS rating) and you’ll wonder why anyone flushes drinking water. Check your local council rules first – some areas mandate tanks anyway.

Materials with a conscience (and a budget)

You don’t need to import bamboo from a monastery. Reclaimed timber, recycled brick, low-VOC paints, and locally sourced materials all cut your footprint without cutting your bank balance to ribbons. Bonus: less off-gassing means a healthier house to actually live in.
